Eilat on the Red Sea
Eilat is situated at the southern tip of the Negev Desert at the edge of the Red Sea. If it's sun and sea you are looking for, this is the place for you. The average temperature in winter is 70 degrees Fahrenheit soaring to over 100 degrees in the summer. Eilat is a lively place with many activities, most of which are based around the Red Sea.
Its waters are clear and blue with some of the best coral reefs in the world. Scuba-diving and snorkeling are two very popular activities, as is water-skiing, boat hire,windsurfing, parascending, fishing, beach bars and much more.
If you don't want to get your feet wet, Coral World is a fascinating underwater observatory where you can observe strikingly beautiful fish in their natural habitat.
One of the highlights of any visit to Eilat is the Dolphin Reef, where you can swim or dive with the Dolphins. It's an experience you will always remember. The Dolphin Reef is an ideal place to spend the day, the beach and beach-bar is especially popular and there is also a small restaurant which serves lunch.
If you prefer to stay on dry land, you can hire a jeep, camel or quad bike to discover the awesome Negev Desert which surrounds Eilat. The nearby Timna Valley National Park features King Soloman's Pillars, the Red canyon and rare rock formations some with markings from ancient travelers on the Spice Route. Not far away, a wildlife reserve is the home to animals mentioned in the Bible, roaming free in their natural habitat. The birdwatching park and sanctuary draws enthusiasts from all over the world, for this is the busiest route for birds migrating between Europe and Africa.
Eilat offers a variety of restaurants from gourmet to the very simple. For evening entertainment you can choose from several bars, nightclubs and cafes. The style is relaxed and casual which generally describes Eilat. Prices are similar to the UK. Several excursions are available from Eilat, you can visit Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Massada, the Galilee and Petra in Jordan. All are accessible by either coach or plane.
Hotels of every category are available; from Deluxe, such as the Royal Beach, the Princess, the Dan Eilat and the new Herods Sheraton Resort to the more popular priced. Hotels are generally of high standard providing good facilities for both adults and children.
The best time of year to travel is between September and May. Christmas and Easter are very popular times and usually the most expensive time to be there.

Herzliya is Israel's most exclusive beach resort. The beaches are superb and the whole waterfront area is lined with fine hotels, gourmet restaurants and cafes. The most popular hotels are the Dan Accadia, the Daniel and the Sharon. All three offer excellent facilities and are situated right on the beach.
Netanya is a traditional seaside resort with wide sandy beaches and a good selection of hotels, it is particulary popular with families.
Netanya's bustling town centre offers plenty of restaurants and pavement cafes, shops, cinemas and various activities for children.
In addition to being a resort town, Netanya is the centre of Israel's diamond industry. Even if you are not interested in buying diamonds, a visit to the Netanya Diamond Centre is worth while.
